Plastic Tube Sealing Workshop
(The art of sealing Plastic Tubes for Toothpaste, Hand Creams etc.)

Purpose of the Class
The purpose of our classes is to introduce different manufacturing methods which are commonly used in plastic tube sealing. The class is design to be general in nature discussing all of the commonly used machines (Norden, IWK, etc.). As a result of taking this class you will gain an understanding of the qualities of a good tube seal. Included in the class is how to test and inspect the quality of the seal.

What the student should bring to class:
Students are encouraged to forward a quantity of their tubes and if we have the appropriate tooling we can run their tubes and experiment with various settings. Or if desired you can order the appropriate tooling so that your tubes will run on the Hot Air Sealing machines that are in our laboratory.

These classes are not intended to teach any specific machinery i.e. IWK or Norden, etc.
The classes cover basic concepts in sealing tubes using various manufacturers. The equipment used for the class allows the student to measure all of the parameters that are involved in the tube sealing process. This would include, temperature, Dwell time, Pressure, Cycle time, AnC Precision patented “Finger Print” technology and other parameters. Testing will be performed using instruments which measure internal pressures, measure for pinhole leaks using destructive test methods.

The Class is open to:
Open to all; preferably those are in the business of filling or manufacturing tubes. This would include those who are involved in the manufacturing, operation and set-up of production machine(s). It would also be useful for administrators and QC personnel who are trying to deal with reducing scrap or exploring improving their production or purchasing of new equipment.

The Location of the class

•At your facility: If the class is held at your facility, equipment for the class would be brought in for the students to use.

•At AnC Facility in Gardnerville, NV: If the class is located at AnC Precision located in Gardnerville, NV, various pieces of equipment will be provided so that the students will get firsthand experience with the art of sealing tubes.

The cost of the class:

•The cost at your facility …. $1200 – One day Course * Plus travel and equipment handling. TBD

•The cost at AnC facility …$500 – Two day Course/per person. Class size is limited to 5 students and scheduled every month or two. (See posted class schedule)

Course Outline:

The AnC Tube Sealing Workshop provides the basic skills required to understand the process and evaluate sealing a Plastic Tube

Day 1

8:00 AM – 8:30 AM

Introduction – Students introduce themselves and [the] company they represent. This would also include the type of equipment they are using in-house and the experience they have in the field.

8:30 AM – 10:00 AM

Introduction to the basics of sealing a tube using Hot Air tube sealing methods and what is required to generate a good seal. The sealing parameters will be reviewed and the effects of these parameters on the sealing process of the tube.

10:00 AM-10:15 AM

BREAK

10:15 AM- 12:00 PM

Discuss the differences and advantages between various materials and how they react in the sealing process, i.e. mono layer, laminate, multi-layer with aluminum foil etc.
Introduce the need for different tooling needed for each type of material.

12:00 PM-1:00 PM

LUNCH

1:00 PM-3:00 PM (LAB)

In depth discussion on set-up and adjustments needed to seal tubes. The students will set up a Tube Sealing machine and evaluate the results using laboratory test instrumentation.
